Summary of Work Practice
Control Measures for DCEMS
The DCEMS Exposure Control Plan requires the
following equipment be available in areas where there is potential exposure to bloodborne
pathogens:
Eyewashes
A plumbed, readily
accessible, and uncluttered eyewash station must be available where necessary. Eye washes
in DCEMS Stations will be tested and tagged every month by the Station
Officer.
Other eyewashes must be activated monthly to ensure proper functioning.
An inspection log will be kept by the Station Officer.
Sink for
Hand Washing
Must be readily accessible
Sharps
Containers
Must be
in a convenient, readily accessible location. May be attached to a wall or moveable.
Regulated
Medical Waste Container
An
impervious container with the appropriate label must be available.
Leakproof
Containers for Transport of Shipping of Specimens or Contaminated Materials
Containers
must be transported in a proper container.
