Employee of the Year 2009

Debbie Remaley, Telecommunicator Shift Supervisor with the Sheriff’s Office, was named the 2009 Dare County Employee of the Year during the January 4 meeting of the Dare County Board of Commissioners.

At the end of each year, a county committee selects an Employee of the Year from among the 12 Employees of the Month. Remaley was presented a plaque as the May Employee of the Month at the June 1, 2009 Dare County Board of Commissioners meeting.

The 2008 Employee of the Year, Superintendent of Parks John Daniels with Parks and Recreation, presented the award to Remaley along with Dare County Sheriff Rodney Midgett who praised her dedication to the Dare community.

``Debbie does an outstanding job and I am very proud to call her a friend and very proud to call her a coworker,’’ said Midgett in his remarks.

Remaley has worked for Dare County for 26 years. She began as a Telecommunicator in July of 1983. She was later promoted to Telecommunicator Shift Supervisor.

She is a North Carolina Certified Instructor of Law Enforcement and a Division of Criminal Information Instructor which allows her to teach people how to use the State Bureau of Investigation’s information system. She has numerous letters of commendation on file from a range of officials.

Remaley lives in Nags Head with her husband, Doug. She is well respected by other telecommunicators as well as her supervisors.

Employees of the Month are selected by their peers throughout the year. The Employee of the Year is selected by a committee headed by the Employee of the Year and two Employees of the Month from the previous year.

Remaley was selected from the 12 finalists by 2008 Employee of the Year, John Daniels, who was assisted by Janice Williams of the Manager’s Office and Neal Dennis of Public Works (Recycling).

Congratulations to Debbie Remaley, Dare County’s Employee of the Year for 2009.
